Delete Attributes and Attribute Values
Security:
Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions and formulas
permission.Unlike dimensions, you can delete attribute even when they're in use. Deleting attribute and values won't affect your data. When you delete an attribute, you delete all its attribute values. We automatically remove the tags from the accounts, dimensions, or levels.
- SelectModelingfrom the main menu.
- Click:
- Account Attributes.
- Dimension Attributes.
- Level Attributes.
- From the list of attributes, select the attribute that you want to delete. Or, expand the attribute and select the attribute value that you want to delete.
- (For attribute values only) Click theView Dependencieslink.A table displays all the locations where the model uses the attribute value. You can take note of where your model references the attribute. You can update these areas before or after you delete the attribute value.
- From the toolbar, clickDelete.
When you delete an attribute, you automatically delete all its values. We remove the attribute and its values from all areas of the model, including reports, charts, and formulas.
When you delete attribute values, but don't delete the attribute itself:
- When the deleted attribute value has a parent value, we replace all tags with the parent value.
- When the value has no parent value, we replace all tags with theUncategorizedvalue.
You don't need to update data. When necessary, you only need to update the attribute tags for the accounts, dimensions, and levels. You might also need to update reports, formulas, and charts that used the attribute value.
