Concept: Explore Cell and Row Details

You can view additional information for a data point in a sheet, report, or dashboard chart, depending on:
  • Your permissions and access.
  • The type of data you're exploring.
Use the Explore Cell and Row Details capabilities to:
  • Drill through to contributing data sources such as Workday actuals or objects.
  • Drill down to contributing values from other accounts, dimensions, and levels.

How to Access Explore Cell and Row Details

  • From sheets, intercompany eliminations, and formula validations, right-click a data point and select
    Explore Cell
    or
    Row Details
    .
  • From dashboard charts, left-click and select
    Explore Data
    .
  • From reports, click data points that are hyperlinks to open Explore Cell.

Explore Cell

Explore Cell automatically suppresses rows with zeros or blanks. Only details from levels, dimensions, accounts, and attributes that actually contribute to the value display. Clear the
Suppress Rows if all Zeros or Blanks
setting on the page to reveal rows with zeros and blanks. The next time you launch Explore Cell, it again suppresses zeros and blanks.
Explore Cell can provide these details about a data point or cell intersection:
Detail
Description
Audit trail
If you have Audit Trail enabled, links to an audit trail report that displays the change history for the data.
Audit trail data processes asynchronously to increase the performance of large data import transactions. During these large transactions of data, the most recent value changes might not be reflected immediately in Audit Trail reports.
Other sheets
Links to other sheets that display the value. The linked sheet displays the same level as the current sheet. For cube sheets, the linked sheet keeps the same dimension and attribute pickers, when applicable.
Source details:
  • Drill Into Transactions
  • Drill Through Workday
  • Drill Through NetSuite
Depending on your setup, drills into these data sources:
  • If you enabled Transactions under Modeling, you can drill in to Adaptive Planning transaction tables.
  • If you set up a Workday external system, you can drill through to Workday reports and objects.
  • If you integrate with NetSuite, you can view NetSuite data.
Dimensions
Provides information about the dimensions, such as account, level, and time. From here you can link off to the:
  • Account and level details.
  • Rollup values for account, level, or time. You can open an Explore Cell page for the rollup data.
When you view a matrix report data point that uses all values of a dimension, in your
Filters
section we either:
  • Display
    All
    next to the dimension.
  • Don't display the dimension.
The filter and data being used are the same either way.
Contributing details
Based on the
Cell Explorer Contributing Rows Limit
setting on the General Setup page, you can see some, if not all contributing rows. The setting enables admins to improve performance and data visibility.
Depending on the contributing factors of the data, enables you to:
  • Review an associated formula and open an
    Explore Cell
    window for each formula component.
  • Review the source accounts for a linked account and open an
    Explore Cell
    window for each source account.
  • Drill down to contributing versions, accounts, levels, or custom dimensions.
  • See the currency for the selected data.

Row Details

Row details provide information about the data for modeled accounts only on model sheets such as:
  • Level, version, and the row name.
  • Values for each timespan period of all the sheet accounts.
