Create Plan Versions
Security:
Versions
permission.When you create plan versions, you can select options to determine how much of another plan to copy. You can:
- Create versions with all new settings, rules, splits, and no data.
- Copy the settings, rules, and splits of another version while leaving the data blank.
- Copy the setting, rules, splits of another version including the data.
Each new plan version starts as a copy, even when you copy nothing. For versions with related scenarios, you have check boxes in the
New Version Options
section: - Copy all scenarios: Leaves scenarios in the original and adds the same scenarios to the new version.
- Move all scenarios: Moves the scenarios out of the original into the new version.
- Ignore the scenarios.
- Leave both options blank to keep the scenarios in the original and out of the new version.
When you copy large versions, the version might take time to finish. The version queues in the background so that you don't have to wait. It displays as
In Progress
in the version list until it's complete.- SelectModelingfrom the main menu.
- ClickVersions.
- (Optional) To copy the data of a version, lock the version you're copying to ensure that all the data copies.
- Highlight the version to copy.
- From the toolbar, clickCreate Plan Versionand selectCreate plan version.

- Copy cell, sheet, and workflow notes.
- Copy audit trail history: Leave it blank so that you don't copy the audit trail notes of the copied version.
- Copy all scenarios: Leave it blank to leave the scenarios with the original version.
- Move all scenarios: Leave it blank to leave the scenarios with the original version.
SelectReset workflow status to in progress: Removes the rejected and approved workflow statuses of the version that you're copying.(Optional) Select these check boxes:- Copy shared formulas and rules: In the cells, you see f(x) until you enter the referenced data.
- Copy all override formulas.
- Add as report parameter choice to all reports: Automatically adds the new version as an option to reports that filter by version.
Copied structureClearCopy all data.Select these check boxes:- Copy splits in GL and custom accounts: Copies the structure of the splits and associated dimensions in sheets and reports.
- Copy modeled rows: Copies all the rows in all modeled sheets, including the tagged dimensions.
- Copy shared formulas and rules: In the cells, you see f(x) until you enter the referenced data.
- Copy all override formulas.
Copied structure and dataSelect these check boxes:- Copy all data.
- Copy shared formulas and rules.
- Copy audit trail history: Copies the audit trail notes of the copied version.
- Copy all override formulas.
- Copy splits in GL and custom accounts: Copies the structure of any splits and the data in the splits.
- Copy modeled rows: Copies the data in the modeled sheet rows.
- Copy cell, sheet, and workflow notes.
Optional:- SelectAdd as report parameter choice to all reports: Automatically adds the new version as an option to reports that filter by version.
- ClearReset workflow status to in progress: Copies the rejected and approved workflow statuses.
- Select eitherCopy all scenariosorMove all scenarios. We recommend moving the scenarios.
While the version queues:
- The version displays in the version list with anIn Progressstatus.
- All users with access to the version area of the model can see the version in the list. They can't dismiss failed versions that you created.
- You can navigate to other areas of the application.
- You can't create other versions but other users can.
Other version statuses:
- Complete: The new version is done. Click theRefreshbutton that displays when the version completes and you haven't left the version area.
- Failed: Click the info icon to review a list of errors that you can correct before trying again. Click the X to dismiss the version before you try again. The X only displays if you're the person who attempted to create the failed version.
