Example: Build a Cube Sheet for Price and Mix Per Product

This example illustrates how to build a cube sheet to track the price and mix of product purchases.
You want to track the price of each product and the percent that each product will make up of the total products sold. To keep the cube simple, you don't want to track the customers that purchase the products.
You then want to use the data you collect in this sheet to drive calculations on a merged cube sheet. The merged cube sheet calculates the revenue for each customer per product.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Level Assigned Sheets
    .
  3. Click
    New Sheet
    .
  4. Complete the form like this:

    Cube
    .
    Sheet name
    Enter
    Price and Mix
    .
    Sheet code
    Enter
    PRC
    .
  5. Click
    Next
     to display the
    Sheet Summary: Price and Mix
     page.
  6. Click
    Cube Accounts
    .
  7. From the toolbar, click
    Create new cube standard account
    .
  8. Complete these settings like this:

    prc

    Name
    Enter
    Price
    .
    Display as
    Select
    Currency
    .
    Decimal Places
    Select
    Currency's precision
    .
  9. Click
    Save
    .
  10. From the toolbar, click
    Create new cube standard account
    .
  11. Complete the settings like this:

    Display As

  12. Click
    Save
    .
  13. From the breadcrumbs, click
    Summary of Price and Mix
    .
  14. Click
    Dimensions, Attributes and Levels
    .
  15. Select the
    Time
     column from the center canvas.
  16. From the
    Time Properties
     section, clear the
    Initial Balance
     and
    Quarter
     check boxes.
  17. Select
    Levels
     from the center canvas.
  18. In the
    Levels
     tab of the
    Level Properties
     section, click the check box next to
    Name
    .
    Selecting
    Name
     selects all levels and adds them to the sheet.
  19. From the
    Elements
     tab, click
    Dimensions
    .
  20. Drag
    Product
     into the canvas below
    Levels
    .
  21. From the toolbar, click
    Save
    .
From the
Sheets
 menu, open the
Price and Mix
 sheet. Enter data for:
  • Level:
    HQ
    .
  • Version:
    Working Budget
    .
  • Accounts: Mix and Price.
  • Time: All of the time periods in 2022.
Select the sheet as the source sheet when you build the merged cube. See Example Steps: Build a Merged Cube Sheet for Revenue by Product and Customer.
