Remove Attribute Tags from Levels, Accounts, and Dimensions

  • Levels, accounts, or custom dimensions that you tagged with attribute values.
  • Security:
    Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
     permission.
The fastest way to remove attribute tags is to delete the attribute value. When you delete the attribute value, it automatically gets removed from the accounts, custom dimensions, and levels. When you want to remove the attribute tag without deleting the attribute value, you can manually remove it in the respective settings. However, manually removing the attribute value 1 at a time can be cumbersome when you must remove the attribute from several accounts, custom dimensions, or levels.
To accomplish your task in-bulk, you can take advantage of the import and export functions.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click the attribute hierarchy.
    Example:When you must remove attribute from accounts, click
    Account Attributes
    .
  3. From the list, highlight the attribute with the value that you want to remove.
  4. From the toolbar, click button for new attribute values.
    Example: For account attributes, click
    Create new account attribute value
    .
  5. For
    Name
     and
    Code
    , enter
    Delete
     and save.
  6. From the breadcrumb, click
    Modeling
    .
  7. Click the hierarchy that you want to update.
    Example: To remove tags from general ledger accounts, click
    General Ledger Accounts
    .
  8. From the toolbar, click the printer button.
    When the button has a drop-down arrow, select the option to export the structure.
  9. In the downloaded spreadsheet, enter
    Delete
     in place of the attribute values that you want to remove.
  10. Save the spreadsheet.
  11. Return to the same hierarchy in the
    Modeling
     area.
    Example: Return to
    General Ledger Accounts
    .
  12. From the toolbar, click the import button.
    When the button has a drop-down arrow, select the option to import the structure.
  13. Click the
    Update and Append
     option and select the saved spreadsheet.
  14. From the breadcrumbs, select
    Modeling
    .
  15. Click the appropriate attribute hierarchy.
    Example: When you're removing attributes from accounts, click
    Account Attributes
    .
  16. Expand the attributes to highlight the new
    Delete
     value.
  17. From the toolbar, click the trash icon.
The levels, dimensions, or accounts no longer have a tag for that attribute.
