Monitor and Cancel Long Running Processes

Planning Center is not available to customers in Singapore at this time.
The Long Running Processes report in the Planning Center enables you to review and cancel processes that have been running for more than 30 seconds. When larger processes run at peak-traffic times, they can decrease performance and block normal planning activities. You can now identify these large processes, cancel most of them when necessary, and re-run them during low-traffic times.
Some processes can’t be canceled. They have
uncancellable
 in the Action column of the report.
The report doesn’t display:
  • Processes once cancellation is complete.
  • The related sheet, report, version, or model component.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Planning Center
    .
  3. From the Process Dashboard section, click
    Long Running Processes
    .
  4. As you review the report, consider:
    Column Name
    Description
    User
    Identifies the username of the person who ran the process.
    Ago
    Displays the time since the process started. You can sort the column to find the longest running processes.
    Type
    Identifies the type of process:
    • Sheet loads
      : User is opening or saving sheets that are still loading. You can go to
      Sheet Metrics
       to try to identify the sheet. See Check Sheet Metrics.
    • API
      : User is running an API.
    • Admin updates
      : User is:
      • Locking or archiving versions.
      • Copying or importing large sheets.
      • Deleting sheets with high dimensionality.
      • Deleting or changing custom dimensions or levels.
      • Changing sheet definitions.
    • Excel exports
      : User is exporting data or metadata.
    • Import
      : User is importing data or metadata.
    • Other: All other processes not captured by the listed options.
    Action
    • Cancel
      : Click to cancel the process.
    • Cancelling
      : You’ve started the cancellation process.
    • Uncancellable
      : You can’t cancel the process.
When you cancel a process:
  • The process stops and resulting bottlenecks in performance are removed.
  • The process no longer displays in the report.
