Change the version availability for dimension values with the dimension value

Version Settings

. You can use the version availability setting to make the dimension values visible in the version or to hide the dimension values from the version. You can also change version availability with the dimension structure import.

Hide dimension values:

Instead of deleting dimension values. To delete dimension values, you must remove them from all areas of your model, including historical data. When you hide values from the current version, you can keep the historical data in past versions intact.
To use them for analyzing specific scenarios. Example: Make a dimension value available in your what-if versions and hide it in your working budget version.
To control visibility, such as when your organization has a reason to keep it hidden. Example: Your organization might not be ready to announce a new product, but still must use it in forecasts.

There are some availability limitations and defaults:

The setting is for list dimensions only.
You can only change version availability for plan versions. The setting for root actuals is read-only and always available.
By default, all dimension values are visible to all versions, including new versions.
When you select
All versions
, you're making the dimension visible in all versions.
You can only hide dimension values. You can't hide the dimension itself.
When the dimension value is already in use for a specific version, you can't hide it from that version.
When you use the user interface of the application to change version availability, you must save the dimension settings between each version you select.
