Example: Create Alternate Level Structure with Level Dimensions

This example illustrates how to create an alternate level structure for reporting puposes using level dimensions.
Your level organization reflects the departmental structure of your company. With this structure you can view the totals for each department: G&A, Product Development, and Sales. The locations of the departments are in different regions of the United States. To report on totals for regions across departments, you want to create an alternate hierarchy by tagging the levels with custom dimensions.
The level hierarchy looks like this:
G&A
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Legal
  • IT
Product Development
  • Operations
  • Engineering
  • Product Management
Sales
  • East Coast Sales
  • West Coast Sales
  • Midwest Sales
  • South West Sales
  • Create the levels as described in the scenario.
