Import Dimension Mappings

Import Dimension Mappings

Security:
  • Model includes: sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
     permission.
  • Structure Import
     permission.
Create many dimension mappings, or make bulk updates to existing ones with the import function. You can also delete mappings. You can either:
  • Export the current structure, which you can modify in Excel before importing. When you want to make updates to or delete existing mappings, we recommend using the export function.
  • Download the Excel template, and fill out the blank
    Import
     tab.
You can use the export and import functions to delete mappings. However, when you must delete all mappings, you must use Dashboards to remove them all because the import fails when there are no rows. See:
  1. Select
    Modeling
    from the main menu.
  2. Select
    Dimensions
    .
  3. From the dimension list, select a dimension that has
    Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
     enabled.
    When the check box is enabled, we display a drop down arrow next to the import and print buttons in the toolbar.
  4. From the toolbar, select 1 of these options based on your needs:

    Print
    Use this option to change or delete existing mappings.
    To download the existing mapping structure for the dimension:
    1. Click the drop down arrow next to the print icon.
    2. Select
      Export Dimension Mapping
      .
    3. Select a version from the
      Version
      prompt.
    4. Click
      Download
      .
    Import
    Use this option to add new mappings or reload the entire mapping structure.
    To access the blank template:
    1. Click the drop down arrow next to the import icon.
    2. Select
      Import Dimension Mapping
      .
    3. Select
      Download Template
      . Instructions are in the first tab of the template.
  5. Complete the blank template or make the changes to the exported file and save to your computer.
    Don't leave more than 1 blank row between rows.
  6. Return to
    Modeling
    >
    Dimensions
    .
  7. From the list of dimensions, highlight the same dimension.
  8. From the toolbar, click the arrow next to the import icon.
  9. Select
    Import Dimension Mappings
    .
  10. Complete the form:
    Optie Omschrijving
    Update
    Select this option when you're importing changes to existing mappings. Don't select this option if you:
    • Removed mappings.
    • Added new mappings.
    Append
    Select this option when you only have new mappings in the import. Don't select this option if you have:
    • Changed existing mappings.
    • Removed mappings.
    Reload mapping(s)
    Select this option if:
    • Your import has a mix of new mappings and changed mappings.
    • You removed mappings.
    Version
    Select the version for the updates.
    Choose file
    Click to browse your computer and select your file.
    Upload
    Click to finish.
