Create Trading Partner and Elimination Levels

Creating trading partners and elimination levels is 1 step of setting up intercompany eliminations with the Consolidation capability. The steps to create trading partner levels depends on the elimination method your model uses.
Trading partners are levels that do business with each other. You can make any level a trading partner, except these levels:
  • The top-level.
  • Levels already tagged with the
    Elimination Level
     setting.
For the
Trading Partner
 setting, your instance might display a different label.
The
Elimination Level
 setting identifies the level where rules eliminate trading partner activity. Usually, data in child levels rolls up to the parent level. But when the parent is an elimination level, the trading partner transactions don't roll up. Instead they're eliminated. Elimination levels must be the ancestor level of at least 2 trading partner levels.
You can view the elimination entries at the (Only) level of the elimination level.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Levels
    .
  3. From the toolbar, click
    Create new level
    , or select any level from the level hierarchy.
  4. From the
    Elimination Settings
     section, select the appropriate check box:
    • Trading partner
      . The check box label might be different for your model. All descendants of the level become trading partner levels.
    • Elimination level
      .
For the attribute method, you get a trading partner attribute value that matches the level name.
For the splits method, you get a trading partner dimension value that matches the level name.
Set up Intercompany Accounts:
  • For the attribute method, tag accounts with the attribute value. Tagged accounts are available for elimination rules.
  • For the splits method, tag the splits with the dimension value in the intercompany transaction sheet. See Build Intercompany Transaction Sheet.
