Create Attributes
- When you're creating custom dimension attributes, create the custom dimension that you’ll tag with the attribute. See Create Custom Dimensions.
- Security:Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions and formulaspermission.
Attributes are groupings with lists of values that tag metadata. Tagging metadata enables you to create groups and hierarchies that differ from the existing hierarchies for reporting purposes.
You can create attributes for:
- Accounts.
- Custom dimensions.
- Levels.
You don't need to add attributes to sheets to associate data with attributes. Example: Tag the Revenue account with an account attribute. All data entered or imported for Revenue is automatically associated with the attribute tagged to the account.
You can create attributes in:
- Modeling1 at a time or through spreadsheet imports.
- Integrationwith the attribute loader or the APIs.
- SelectModelingfrom the main menu.
- To get to a set of attributes, click 1 of these links:
- Level Attributes: The attributes you create here display in the level settings. The setting enables you tag levels.
- Dimension Attributes: The attributes you create here display in the custom dimension settings of the dimension that you select. The setting enables you to tag the dimension values.
- Account Attributes: The attributes you create here display in the account settings. The setting enables you to tag accounts.
- (For custom dimension attributes only) From the first toolbar prompt, select the custom dimension whose values you’ll later tag with the attribute values.When you don't see the dimension in the drop-down list, validate that:
- You created the dimension.
- You selected theList dimensioncheck box in theDimension Detailssection of the dimension.
- From the toolbar, click the create attribute values button.The name of the button changes depending on which set of attributes you're creating. Example: When you're in the account attributes set, click theCreate new account attributebutton.
- As you complete theDetailsection, consider:

Level import automatically creates attributes valuesSelect the check box to enable you to add new level attributes when you import the level structure with these tools:- Integration loaders.
- Integration APIs.
- The import button inModeling>Levels.
Keep sortedSelect the check box to sort the attribute values in alphabetical order.Clear the check box to arrange the order as you like.When you select this option, the order of the attribute values can change when you change:- Display name format of the attribute.
- Names of the attribute values.
- Codes of the attribute values.
