Create Geo Maps

Create Geo Maps

Geo maps visualize data with circles based on geographical locations. Geo maps can work with any accounts that associate to dimensions with dimensions values that:
  • Have custom properties.
  • Contain geographic coordinate information in custom properties.
  1. Select
    Dashboards
     from the main menu.
  2. Select a perspective.
  3. Select
    Edit
     to put your dashboard in edit mode.
  4. Drag
    Geo Map
     from
    Charts
     to the design area.
  5. Enter a name for the geo map in
    Appearance settings
    .
  6. Select
    Data settings
    .
  7. Select an account from a modeled or cube sheet that contains a
    geo dimension
    .
    A geo dimension contains:
    • Dimension values with geo regions.
    • Custom properties.
    The dimension values and custom properties define region latitude and longitude coordinates. Geo dimensions model a geography hierarchy as either:
    • A list dimension.
    • A hierarchical dimension.
  8. Select a
    Geo Dimension
     and the
    Latitude Property
     and
    Longitude Property
    .
  9. (Optional) Add additional accounts.
    Circles partially overlap when data points share geographic coordinates.
  10. (Optional) Select
    Data series
     and select accounts to hide or visualize.
  11. (Optional) Sort or limit account data.
    Example: Sort and limit the data on your geo map to display the top 10 countries with highest GDP. Sorts and limits don't support breakdown.
  12. (Optional) Select
    Breakdown
     by time or dimension within
    Data Settings
     for in-depth analysis.
    Colors assign automatically to circles for a breakdown series. Breakdowns remove sorts or limits.
    Example: Select
    Territory Assignment
     as a breakdown dimension to analyze territory assignments.
  13. Select
    Done
    .

Use the geo map to visualize values to spot outliers quickly on a map.
