Steps: Build Intercompany Trading Sheet
The intercompany trading sheet is a standard sheet that you build if you use the splits method for intercompany elimination. It can be either user-assigned or level-assigned. Use it to enter and track elimination data between trading partners.

- You must have the splits method chosen for your elimination method. See Steps: Choose Elimination Method.
- You must also Create Trading Partner and Elimination Levels and Set up Intercompany Accounts.
- Required permissions:>Model Management AccessModel.
Navigation
From the
nav menu, select Modeling
. In the Sheets
menu, select User Assigned
Sheets
or Level Assigned Sheets
to view the list of sheets in your
model.Create Sheet
You can create one sheet for all intercompany data or several sheets for specific levels and accounts. If the sheet already exists, from the sheet list, click
Edit
next to the sheet name. This opens the Sheet Summary
page. From there, click the links to edit the sheet. Have a list of
- Intercompany accounts
- Trading partner levels
- Elimination levels
To create the sheet:
- Click theNew Sheetbutton at the bottom of the sheet list.
- Enter a name for the sheet in theSheet namefield. Make the name match the purpose. For example, call it Intercompany Transactions.
- Click theCreate new sheetradio button and selectStandardfrom the dropdown.
- ClickNext.
Create Groups and Add Accounts
As a best practice, think about grouping accounts. You can group the debit accounts with their associated credit accounts, or you can group all the debit accounts together and all the credit accounts together.
You should also add the difference system account.
Create Accounts Groups
- If the sheet already exists, clickAccount Groupsfrom theSheet Summary.
- Click theNew Groupbutton below theAccounts for Sheettab.
- In theGroup Detailssection, enter a name, such as Debits or Credits, for the group in theHeadingfield.
- (Optional) As a best practice, click theShow Headingcheckbox. Now the group heading name appears on the sheet.
- Click theSavebutton right below theHeadingfield.
Add Accounts
- When you add a parent account, you add all its child accounts.
- You can't remove a child account unless you remove the parent.
- You can't add the same account to more than one group.
- Best practice: Add only intercompany accounts to the sheet.
To add the accounts:
- In theAccounts for Sheettab, highlight the group. This is the group you will add the accounts to.
- From theSelect Accountssection, use theTypefilter or theSearchfield to find accounts.
- Highlight the account and click theAdd To Groupbutton. Add the credit, debit, and system difference accounts.
- Once you add all accounts, clickNext.
Add the Trading Partner Dimension
- If the sheet already exists, clickDimensionsfrom theSheet Summaryscreen.
- From theAvailable Dimensionslist, find the trading partner dimension.
- Highlight the dimension and click the forward arrows to add it to theSelected Dimensionslist.
- ClickNextif you're building a new sheet, orSaveif you're editing.
The trading partner dimension name might be different for your instance. Your admin entered the name in the General Setup. See Change the Trading Partner Label.
Set the Initial View
The initial view sets how the sheet appears when a user opens it. You can have either levels or accounts down the rows of the sheets. Your users can switch between the two. Accounts down the rows provides an easy way for users to see all the account data per level. Levels down the rows provides an easy way for users to audit their data -- they can make sure that levels aren't tracking data in the wrong accounts.
To display levels down the rows, click
Start in view by level mode
. Uncheck the option to display accounts down then row. Then click Next
if you're building a new sheet or Save
if you're editing.Add Levels
Have a list of all your model's trading partner and elimination levels. Best practice: add elimination levels so you can see that the rules successfully eliminated at the appropriate level.
- If you're editing the sheet, clickLevel Availabilityfrom theSheet Summary.
- Click the arrows in the tree to expand the entire level list.
- Select the checkboxes next to the levels that are trading partners and elimination levels.
- ClickSave.
