Appearance Settings

Name
The title of the chart. Character limit: 50.

We select this option by default to display the chart in presentation mode. Turn the toggle off to hide the chart in presentation mode.

Show Data Labels
Display or hide data labels.
Axis
Define the presentation of the primary and secondary axes, including the labels. You can set primary and secondary axes independently. Settings for the
secondary
axis display only when you have set a secondary axis. You can set a secondary axis from the
Series Y Axis
field in the
Account
section of the
Data Settings
tab.

Font
Configure the font type and color for label text on the horizontal axis. Displays when
Legend
is on.

Primary Axis Title
Select the format of the axis title.

Primary Axis Auto Scaling
Decide if the axis automatically scales. When the
Primary Axis Start From Zero
setting is off, we scale based on the values in the data series. When you turn off
Axis Auto Scaling
, you must set the axis minimum and maximum values.

Primary Axis Minimum
Enter the first point on the y-axis. Displays when
Axis Auto Scaling
is off.

Primary Axis Maximum
Enter the last point on the y-axis. Displays when

Primary Axis Interval
Enter a number that's at least 5 percent of the
Primary Axis Maximum
value. Displays when

is off. Example: When you set the interval and axis minimum to 1000, the axis displays these numbers: 1000, 2000, 3000, and so on.

Primary Axis Start from Zero
Select how the axis starts when
Axis Auto Scaling
is on:
  • On
    : Axis starts at zero.
  • Off
    : Axis starts at the minimum value in the data set.

Actuals Overlay
Available when you have 1 data series on the chart or multiple data series all with the same version.
  • On: Displays a green background for actuals data.
  • Off: No distinction for actuals data.

Show Legend
Display or hide the chart legend.

Customize the chart legend placement.
Reference Value
Version
Select a version to use as the reference value. You can only have one reference value.

Add
Add comparison values to compare a range against the reference value. You can add multiple comparison values.

Account
Each account in a chart has its own settings:
  • Expand to change the settings for the data series.
  • To remove an account from the chart, select
    Delete
    from the related actions menu of the account.
  • To reorder accounts, drag and drop the the handler icon. The order affects the format and placement of the data series in a chart.
  • Add
    to add accounts or dashboard metrics to the chart.
Accounts
Name
Sets the display name of the data series. Character limit: 50 characters. When you edit the name for these charts, you remove the version from the chart axis label:
  • Area.
  • Bar.
  • Column.
  • Doughnut.
  • Funnel.
  • Line.
  • Pie.
  • Pyramid.
Example: The default name for the data series is 6200 Taxes & Benefits (budget version). You edit the name to Taxes & Benefits. We no longer display the version label (budget version) on the chart, even when you reset the name back to the default.

Changes the account in the chart.

Filters the data by:
  • Levels.
  • Level attributes.
  • Dimensions.
  • Dimension attributes.

Color
Indicates the color for the data series. The color next to the account settings section represents the color for the data series.

Display Units
Format the display units:
  • Follow Account
    : Use the display units set from the account. We use this format by default.
  • #,000,000 (#,##0.#)
    : Display as millions with 1 decimal.
  • # (#,##0)
    : Display as thousands with no decimals.
  • #,000 (#,##0.#)
    : Display as thousands with 1 decimal.

Negative Number Format
Format the display units for negative numbers:
  • -123,456,789.12
    : Use a negative sign to indicate a negative value.
  • (123,456,789.12)
    : Enclose a negative value in parentheses.

Series Y Axis
Indicates whether the y-axis for this data series displays as the primary or secondary axis on the chart. To change the appearance of primary and secondary axes, edit the
Axis
section in the
Appearance
Settings.

Time Settings

Calendar
Displays when your instance uses alternate calendars. Select the calendar to use.

Select the time strata for the data set.

Pin Time (blue)
Set a fixed time period based on the selected strata. Example: For

  • Single Period
    spans, set a specific date. Example: May 2017.
  • Range
    spans, select the start and end dates. Example: May 2017 to June 2017

Unpin Time (gray)
Set time relative to the reference period displayed on the perspective toolbar and based on the selected strata.
  • Current
    : Matches the date selected for the perspective.
  • Backwards
    : Adjusts backward from the perspective date by the number that you enter.
  • Forwards
    : Adjusts forward from the perspective date by the number that you enter.
For
Single Period
time spans, set the relative time for the chart. For
Range
time spans, set the relative time for the start and end of the range.
