Set Password Requirements

Security:
Admin Access
New password requirements apply to existing users only the next time they need to change their passwords. To force users to change their passwords, you can temporarily adjust the
Password Valid for
 field.
Example: If you specify 5 days for the setting, users get 5 days time to change their passwords. Workday prompts users to change their password when they sign in. After the specified time is complete, you can then extend the setting.
Always research and use current password management practices.
  1. Select
    Administration
    from the main menu.
  2. Select
    General Setup
     from the System menu. 
  3. Complete the fields in the
    Password management
     section.
    As you complete this task, consider:
    Opción Descripción
    Minimum character length
    Enter 8 or more.
    Minimum number of Alphabetic characters and Numeric characters
    Enter 1 or more to require that passwords use at least 1 alphabet and 1 number.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Mixed case required
    • Disallow more than 2 consecutive identical characters
    • At least 1 non-alphanumeric character required
    Select any of these additional requirements for the password:
    • Use of both capital and lowercase letters
    • Don't use more than 2 consecutive identical characters. Example: Don't use "aaa" or "222".
    • Use at least one character that isn't an alphabet or a number. Example: Use symbols such as @, #, $, %, &, *
    Password valid for
    We recommend that you enter at least 90 days or 3 months.
    Minimum password age
    Sets the number of days a user must keep a password before they're allowed to change it again.
    Allowed failed attempts
    For the first field, enter a number between 1 and 50. For the second field, enter a maximum of 525,600 minutes (8,760 hours or 365 days). The system locks an account if users try to sign in 10 times within a 24-hour period. After setting the option, you see the
    Login State
    column on the
    Users
    interface in Administration.
    Expiration warning
    Enter how many days before the password expires you want to warn the users.
    Prevent using last
    Select at most 10 passwords. The minimum requirement is 5 passwords.
    Password Reset Management
    • Allow users to reset their password from the login page
    • Users must change their password on first login
    Select these options to force users to:
    • Reset their passwords from the sign-in page.
    • Change their password after signing in the first time.
