Add Text to Dashboards

  • Create Perspectives, or have edit access to shared perspectives.
  • Security:
    Edit Dashboards
     permission.
You can use text on dashboards to improve how users interact with charts. When you're in edit mode, add text to dashboards to provide:
  • Instructions.
  • Sections that group charts.
  • Summary analysis.
We don't support:
  • Mailto links.
  • Images.
In view mode, text doesn't change with perspective context or time changes.
  1. Select
    Dashboards
     from the main menu.
  2. Create or open a perspective.
  3. From the toolbar, click
    Edit
    .
  4. From the left panel, drag
    Text
     into the dashboard.
  5. (Optional) To resize the text frame, drag the corner handles.
  6. To enter text, click inside the text box.
    A vertical scroll bar displays when the text wraps beyond the vertical size of the text box.
  7. (Optional) To format the text, use the toolbar that displays when you click inside the text box.
    Example:
    • Bulleted and numbered lists.
    • Text color, size, and style.
  8. (Optional) Click
    Insert link
     from the text box toolbar to create URL and shared web report links.
    Example: You can create a link to a transaction report. Selecting the transaction report in view mode opens the report in a new window.
  9. (Optional) To clear formatting, select text then click the
    Clear Formatting
     icon.
  10. In the
    Appearance Settings
    , use the
    Show in Presentation Mode
     to hide or display the text when the dashboard is in
    Presentation Mode
    .
