Install the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager

Prerequisites

Permissions Required: Integration > Data Designer
Verify you have administrative rights to install software on your computer.
Verify the computer has a supported 64 bit Java Environment by referring to Reference: Integration Data Agent Technical Requirements. The preferred JDK is Azul Zulu.
Obtain the username and password for an Adaptive Planning or Workday user on your instance.
If you installed Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) on your computer, make a note of its installation directory.

Steps

Download the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager installer.
Run the installer.

Download the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager Installer

Select
Data Agents
in the component library.
Select
Create New Data Agent
.
Enter a name that lets you uniquely identify this data agent.
Select
Create
to view the download links.
Decide if you want to use Pentaho Data Integration.

Download Installer for Use with Pentaho Data Integration (PDI)

To launch the Scripted Data Source or the Scripted Loader using the Pentaho Data Integration 9.3, download (PDI .

zip

file) from https://hitachiedge1.jfrog.io/ui/native/pntpub-maven-release/org/pentaho/di/pdi-ce/9.3.0.0-428/:

Agree to the acknowledgement and select
Proceed to download

Scroll down and Select Version:
Pentaho 9.3

Select
Download
for Pentaho Data Integration 9.3.
Extract the PDI download on your computer.
Make a note of the full path to the Pentaho
data-integration
folder. You need this path to install the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager for use with PDI.

When you install Pentaho Data Integration, the Agent Service manages a pool of PDI ETL execution instances.

Download the Data Agent Installer

Download the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager installer.
Uninstall the preexisting Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager if you already had one by:
Stopping the data agent windows service.
Selecting
Start > All Programs > Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent > Uninstall
. For data agent versions 13.0.274 and older, select
Start > All Programs > Adaptive Data Agent > Uninstall
Reboot your computer to clear old installation files.

Run the Installer

Launch the downloaded installer.
Continue through the setup wizard. Browse to the folder containing your Java Environment (JE) or your Java Runtime Environment (JRE). The
JAVA_HOME
for your system environment variable fills in by default.
Select
Next
until you see the
Features
and
Installation Folder
tabs.
Decide if you want to also use Pentaho Data Integration.

Install For Use Without Pentaho Data Integration (PDI)

Uncheck
Script Engine for Custom Data Imports
if you do not want to use PDI.
Select
Next
and continue with the installation.

Install for Use With Pentaho Data Integration (PDI)

Select
Scripting Engine for Custom Data Imports
Imports and select
Next
.
Browse into your PDI installation folder and select the
data-integration
directory.
Select
Next
and continue with the installation.

Complete the Installation

Launch the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager after installing.
Login with your Adaptive Planning or Workday username and select
Provision a New Agent
.
Select
Tenant and Agent
, then
Provision
.
Wait a few minutes to refresh the Data Agent page within Adaptive Planning so that
Agent status
updates to
Running
.
You can only have one instance of the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager on each computer.
Complete the steps in Configure the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager.
