Concept: Linking Accounts for Actuals

Concept: Linking Accounts for Actuals

You can link accounts for actuals and planning or you can link accounts only for plan versions. It's better that you leave certain accounts unlinked for actuals.
When you link the accounts for actuals versions, you delete any actuals data currently stored in the destination account. You’ll also lock the target account, so you can't edit or upload data into the account. The only way to populate the target account is through the source account.

Settings for Linking Accounts in Actuals

The account setting for linking actuals is in the
Actuals Overlay
section. You have 2 options:
  • Enable actuals for link
: Removes the link in actuals versions.
  • Show actuals if the linked account has them
: Keeps the link when the source account has actuals, and removes the link when the source doesn't have actuals.

When to Remove Account Links for Actuals Versions

Enable actuals for link
removes links and keeps the source and target accounts unlocked in your actuals version. It's best to select this option when you:
  • Import actuals data from another general ledger source.
  • Don't model the actuals data for your target account in Adaptive Planning.
  • Don't have actuals for the source accounts.
  • Use modeled accounts for the source account. Modeled accounts don't generally have actuals data.
