Set the Scope for Calculations in Cube and Modeled Sheets

To improve the performance of cube and modeled sheets, you can set a time range for calculated accounts.
Start and end times are relative to the version settings, so you generally only need to set the scope once per sheet.
The scope that you set for actuals:
  • Includes all sub-versions.
  • Is relative to the
    Completed Values Through
    date for actuals versions.
The scope that you set for plans:
  • Includes all plan versions.
  • Is relative to the respective
    Start of Plan
    date of each plan version.
  • Is relative to the
    Completed Values Through
    date of actuals when the
    Start of Plan
    is more than 1 period after the
    Completed Values Through
    .
  1. Click:
    • Columns and Levels
      for modeled sheets.
    • Dimensions, Attributes, and Levels
      for cube sheets.
  2. From the toolbar in the center panel, click
    Sheet Properties
    .
  3. Click the
    Scope
    tab.
  4. In the
    Actuals Values
    section, define the scope:

    Start of Version
    Start calculating at the beginning of the version.
    End of Version
    Stop calculating at the end of the version.
    Calendar periods
    Set the scope relative to the
    Completed Values Through
    of the actuals versions.
    1. Select an option from the second prompt. The options available depend on the setup of your calendar. Mostly commonly, they’re
      Months
      ,
      Quarters
      , and
      Years
      .
    2. Enter how many periods to offset the start or time period. You can enter a positive or negative number. Positive numbers move the scope forward. Negative numbers move the scope back.
    Example: Select
    Month
    and enter
    -5
    for
    Stop calculating
    . The calculations stop 5 months before the
    Completed Values Through
    date. Enter
    5
    and the calculations stop 5 months after the
    Completed Values Through
    date.
  5. In the
    Plan Values
    section, define the scope for plan versions:

    Stop calculating at the end of the plan version.

The formulas in the sheet calculate and display values only within the defined scope for each version. The cells that are out of scope display blank and locked with a blue triangle.
