Add Splits in Standard Sheets

  • Identity your sheet as a standard sheet. See Concept: Sheet Types.
  • Accounts must be either:
  • To add splits on a version scenario, create a scenario version in
    Model Management
    .
  • Ensure that you have access to any versions or scenario versions where you want to change data.
  • Security:
    • Editable Sheet Access
       permission.
    • To create dimension values directly on the sheet for new splits, configure access to the
      Edit Dimension on Sheet
       permission.
On standard sheets, you can add splits to add rows and break down data in further categories, such as departments or accounts.
Example: You have contributing factors for travel expense data, including:
  • Seminars.
  • Speaking opportunities.
  • Trade shows.
  • Training.
Create splits to add as many lines as necessary to accommodate travel expenses. These splits roll up to the total travel expense account.
  2. (Optional) To propose changes to the base data using a scenario version, from the version prompt, select the base version to expand it.
  3. (Optional) Select the scenario version that’s nested inside the base version.
  4. To add splits, use any of these methods:
    • Select
      Add Split
       on the toolbar.
    • Right-click on a row cell or any existing split and select
      Add Split
      .
    • For multiple splits, highlight and right-click a range of existing splits and select
      Add Split
      . Example: To add 2 rows of splits, highlight a range that includes 2 rows of existing splits.
  5. (Optional) For standard sheets with dimensions, change the dimension value after you create your split.
We automatically lock the original row. To change the locked, rolled-up totals that we display on this original row, expand the split rows and change that data.
Your business is a store that sells clothes. In your model, you have a dimension called Product. Product has a dimension attribute called Group. Group categorizes the product dimension values.

You want to:
  • Add a split or a row for the Product dimension.
  • Categorize the values that you enter across the time span by Tank Tops.
The Tops grouping attribute automatically tags the new rows of data. The tank tops data contributes to the value referenced for Tops. Users can now either build reports or use formulas that reference either Tank Tops alone or Tops.
  1. In the
    Product
     column, select a cell at the intersection where you want to add a dimension value.
  2. Right-click the cell and select
    Add Split
    .
  3. Enter
    Tank Tops
     and select
    OK
    .
  4. In the new split, hover a cell in the
    Product
     column and click the down arrow.
  5. Select
    Tank Tops
    .
  6. For the split, enter a value for each cell in the time span columns.
Add data on each unlocked cell of your new rows.
