Question
Is there a way to adjust the
formula that we currently have on the Personnel sheet that will allow calculations to be
dependent upon an employee's end date? Currently, the we have a Benefit account that is
being spread over the entire year based on the number of days in a month. However, we
have an employee with whom the end date is set at 03/31/2017. Other Personnel accounts
stop calculating at this date, but the Benefit account continues to spread over the
year. How would we go about fixing this? Is there something that can be added to the
calculated accounts that we currently have in the system?Answer
Yes, it is possible to build logic
into your formula to stop calculating after an employees end date. For example, you
could multiply the existing Benefit account calculation by Partial Headcount. Once this
is done, the account should only have a value in months where an employee has a headcount.- The Partial Headcount calculates the approximate percentage of the month that an employee is employed during both the start and the end month. This account should evaluate to zero for months before the employee's start date and after the employee's end date.
