Concept: Calculate Formula Values

For locked plan versions, you can use the Calculate formula Values setting to:
  • Preserve the calculated results of formulas in most accounts.
  • Increase the performance of locked versions.
In the locked plan version, evaluated formulas might not match the calculated values that display in sheets or Explore Cell. This inconsistency is a result of actuals overlay and formulas that reference actuals data. Example: A formula in a sheet references 12 months of actuals (total= 600) and the monthly data displays as 50 (600/12). You then lock the version and preserve the calculated values in the sheet. Later on the actuals change from 600 to 1200. When you explore cell, the evaluated formula updates with the new actuals total of 1200. However, the monthly data in the sheet and Explore Cell continue to display 50.
Preserving calculated results doesn't lock:
  • Cumulative accounts that calculate the delta per time period.
  • Metric accounts.
  • Accounts with formulas that reference deleted accounts.
  • Calculated modeled accounts when the number of rows multiplied by the number of calculated accounts on the sheet exceeds 25,000.
