Concept: Row Key in Modeled Sheets
Row Key Use Case
You can designate columns as a row key in the
Sheet Properties
of modeled sheets. The row key is essentially the label, or the identifier, for the rows. In modeled sheets, each a row is a split in each calculated account on the same sheet. Example: The Employee Name
column is the row key for the Personnel sheet. Each employee record splits the Salary account.Row Key Recommendations
Be thoughtful about combining columns as row keys so that you have keys that make sense. Example: In a Personnel sheet, the row key should be all of these columns:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Title
Row keys are especially useful for scenarios. When you make changes to modeled sheets in scenarios, and then download those changes, the row key helps you to identify where the changes were made in the sheet.
Row Key Limitations
- Row key is available forTextcolumns only.
- You can't enable splits for columns that are row keys.
- Disable splits for the column before you make it a row key.
- You can make more than 1 column a row key.
Row Keys and Reports
To display the row key properly in matrix reports:
- Add the modeled accounts to the innermost row of the report.
- Display splits on the report.
- Expand the accounts by default.
