Tag Custom Dimension Values with Attribute Values

Tag Custom Dimension Values with Attribute Values

Dimension attributes group data associated with dimensions differently than the dimension hierarchy. You can achieve this result by tagging dimension values with attribute values.
Example: T-Shirts, Jackets, and Jeans are Product dimension values. They roll up to the Product dimension. To group the values associated with the products, you create an attribute called, Product Group, with a value called, Tops. When you tag T-Shirts and Jackets with Tops, all data associated T-Shirts and Jackets is also associated with Tops automatically. Referencing or reporting on Tops pulls the aggregate values of both T-Shirts and Jackets across the model, providing an alternate rollup for the products.
