FAQ: How Do I Add Journal Entries to Intercompany Accounts

You can't. Intercompany accounts are for elimination rules, and can't support journal entries for that reason. Instead, try this:
  1. For the account, select
    No
     for the
    Intercompany
     setting.
  2. Add 2 child accounts that roll up to the account.
  3. For 1 of the child accounts, select
    Yes
     for the
    Intercompany
     setting. Use this account in the elimination rules.
  4. For the other child account, select
    No
     for the
    Intercompany
     setting. Use this account for journal entries.
Now, the parent account of the new child accounts holds the sum of the 2 child accounts.
