Reference: Settings for Metric Accounts

Account Details

Field
Description
Code
A unique combination of letters, numbers, and underscores. You can't use spaces or other special characters. If left blank for imports, Adaptive Planning auto-generates the code.
Name
Displays on sheets, reports, and charts. The name doesn’t need to be unique. For words to avoid and other guidelines, see Reference: Naming Conventions Best Practices.
Short Name
Any combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Overrides the display name of the account for dashboard charts when the account name is long.
Rolls up to
Indicates the group account that holds the account. You can select
Metric
when you don't want the account to belong to a group.
Dependencies
Indicates where the model references the account:
  • Calculated Accounts
    : Lists accounts that refer to this account in the formula of the account settings.
  • Shared Formulas
    : Lists the accounts by version and level that refer to this account with shared formulas.
  • Cube Entries
    : Lists the accounts by cube sheet name that refer to this account with formulas entered on cube sheets.
  • Other Entries
    : Lists the accounts by version, level, and time period that refer to this account with formulas entered on modeled and standard sheets.
  • Rules
    : Lists the allocation and elimination rules that refer to this account
  • Journal Entries
    Available for Cosolidation only. Lists the journal entries that refer to this account by journal entry number, version, and level.
  • Reports
    : Lists the report names that refer to this account with custom calculations.

Account Attributes

Field
Description
Prompts with the account attributes available in your model. Varies per instance.
Available if your model has account attributes.
Tags the account with attributes. The number of drop-down prompts match the number of account attributes available in your model.

Data Type

Description
Account Time Stratum
Read-only indication of the time strata intersection where data exists.
Display As
Required. Read-only for child accounts or linked accounts.
Indicates how the data displays on sheets:
  • Number
    : The data displays numerical values.
  • Percent
    : The data displays as percents.
Formula Version Selector
Prompt to display the default or override formula of the selected version. Read-only if the account has no default formula.
Override Formula Setting
Read-only when you select a locked version or when you enable the
Disable Version-Specific Formula Setting
.
  • Override Formula
    : Adds an override formula for the selected version.
  • None
    : Reverts to the default formula for the selected version.
Disable Version-Specific Formula Setting
  • Reverts any existing formula overrides for active versions, including locked versions, to the default formula.
  • Doesn't change data in archived versions.
  • Locks the
    Formula Version Selector
    and
    Override Formula Setting
    .
  • Calculated data in locked version continues to change anytime you change the formula.
Unchecked: You can add overrides per version or automatically protect data in versions that you lock.
Formula/Override Formula
Read-only when you select a locked version from the
Formula Version Selector
prompt.
Calculates the value of the account with the formula that you enter. Metric account formulas recalculate in time, level, and dimension rollups.
Decimal Places
Indicates the number of decimal places for the data:
  • Any number 0-9.
  • Currency's precision
    : Follows the setting for the currency. You can use the link to review the decimal places for all your currencies.

Sheets

Field
Description
Account may be suppressed when zero or blank
Hides the account on sheets when all values are zero or blank.
Account will not be suppressed even when zero or blank
Always displays the account on sheets.

Data Privacy

Description
Value of account is private
You can enter formulas that refer to the account on the current level and direct child levels.
Value of account is public at top level only
You can enter formulas on any level that refer to the top-level rollup value. You get an error if you refer to the account at any other level.
Value of account is public at all levels
You can enter formulas that refer to the value of this account on any level.
