Upgrade the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager

  • Security:
    Data Designer
    permissions.
  • Verify that you have administrative rights to install on the computer containing the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager you need to upgrade.
  • Verify that the computer meets the minimum technical requirements. See Reference: Integration Data Agent Technical Requirements
  • If you installed Kettle on your local computer, make a note of its installation directory.
After installing the Data Agent Service, you can upgrade to newer versions as they get released. New version downloads get posted in the Data Agent page within Integration. Download and install a new version on the PC where the Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager runs. You can also develop custom connectors using a software development kit (SDK) and deploy them to the Agent Service.

  1. Uninstall the pre-existing data agent and reboot to clear old installation files.
    Stop the data agent windows service.
    Select
    Start
    All Programs
    Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent
    Uninstall
    .
    For data agent versions 13.0.274 and older, select
    Start
    All Programs
    Adaptive Data Agent
    Uninstall
    .
  2. Download the latest Workday Adaptive Planning Data Agent Manager installer.
    Navigate in
    Adaptive Planning
    to
    Integration
    Design Integrations
    and select an existing Data Agent from the
    Component Library
    . Click
    Download Latest Agent
    in the
    Actions
    pane.
  3. Run the installer.
    The publisher name on the certificate for the Data Agent updated in July 2020. When you run a new installation, Windows might prompt you about an unrecognized app if you haven't updated your data agent since then. To continue with the installation:
    • Click
      More info
      on the prompt to display the app and publisher name.
    • Click
      Run anyway
      to accept the updated publisher and continue the installation.
  4. Continue through the setup wizard.
    The folder path for your Java Environment(JE)/Java Runtime Environment(JRE) should automatically populate. If it doesn't populate, browse to the folder containing your Java Environment (JE) or your Java Runtime Environment (JRE). The
    JAVA_HOME
    for your system environment variable fills in by default.
  5. Select
    Next
    until you see the
    Features
    and
    Installation Folder
    tabs.
  6. Launch the data agent.
    Wait a few minutes to refresh the Data Agent page within
    Adaptive Planning
    so that
    Agent Status
    updates to
    Running
    .
