Concept: Cloud Data Connect

Cloud Data Connect simplifies data integration and sharing to optimize data loading into Workday Adaptive Planning. It facilitates connections from cloud data warehouses directly into planning models, utilizing the core strengths of these platforms for performing the scalable and efficient data transformation and centralization.

This feature is designed for large or very large enterprises that already have strong data governance practices in place.

Recommended best-practice for Cloud Data Connect is to first define the planning model in Adaptive Planning. You then transform and shape the data in your cloud data platform to match the model before importing it. This approach ensures the data is structured, validated, and ready for use when you load it.

With a simplified setup, you can create and manage data pipelines, giving you greater control over how data moves across systems. Pipelines provide a streamlined, modern approach to data integration that improves efficiency and reduces complexity.

When you create a pipeline, you:

Select a destination in Adaptive Planning for the pipeline to load to.
Download a template to provide to your warehouse admin for them to create a source view, and optionally a drill through view, in your warehouse.
Configure a connection to your warehouse and its data.
Review connection information.

Each pipeline functions as if it were a bundled Design Integrations data source, loader, and task. You can opt out of this bundling during pipeline creation to manage each component separately.

You can view and manage your pipelines to:

Check connection status.
Edit draft pipelines you haven't connected with yet.
Duplicate and delete pipelines.
Run and schedule pipeline tasks to load the data into Adaptive Planning.
