Compare Planning Versions in Dashboards

  • Create Perspectives, or have edit access to shared perspectives.

You can add Fan charts to dashboards to compare multiple planning What-If scenarios or versions against a baseline or reference version. We recommend that you use a single account for comparison purposes. Fans charts enable you to visualize:
  • A potential range of outcomes.
  • Risks and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Variances for forecast versions compared to a reference version.
  1. Click
    Edit
    to put your dashboard in edit mode.
  2. On the left panel, click the
    Charts
    icon, then drag and drop the
    Fan
    chart type into the dashboard.
  3. On the left panel, click the
    Accounts
    icon, then navigate to a GL account and drag and drop the account into the Fan chart.
  4. In
    Appearance Settings
    General
    , enter a name for the chart.
  5. In the
    Reference Value
    section, select a version to use as a reference value for comparison.
    Example: Last Year Budget
  6. In the
    Comparison Value
    section, add one or more versions or What-If scenarios to visualize variances from the reference version.
    Example: You can add best and worse case budget scenarios to visualize the ranges compared to the reference version.
  7. (Optional) To enhance your chart visually, add color coding to your reference and comparison versions.
