Import and Export Levels

Import and Export Levels

  • Organization Structure
     permission.
  • Structure Import
     permission.
Use the import function to create many levels and make bulk changes to existing ones. You can either:
  • Export the current structure, which you can modify in Excel before importing.
  • Download the Excel template, and fill out the blank
    Import
     tab.
When preparing an Excel spreadsheet for import, don't leave more than 1 blank row between levels. The import ignores all rows after the 2nd blank row.
Also, make changes manually and avoid using the import options when you want to change:
  • Codes. Changing the code in the import adds new levels, dimensions, and attributes with the same names and new codes.
  • Names. Changing the name in the import has no effect on the structure.
To avoid import errors, don't alter the Name and Code pairings controlled by the workforce planning configuration manager.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Levels
    .
  3. From the toolbar, click the appropriate button:
    • Generate printable view
      : Downloads existing structure, so you can make changes to it.
    • Import organization structure
      : Provides the
      Download template
       link, so you can make changes in a blank template. Instructions are in the first tab of the template.
      When you don't see the import button, you don't have the
      Import Structure
      permission.
  4. Complete the blank template or make the changes to the exported file and save to your computer.
    Don't leave more than 1 blank row between levels.
  5. Return to
    Modeling
    Levels
    .
  6. From the toolbar, click
    Import organization structure
    .
  7. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Bezeichnung
    Update and append
    Recommended option:
    • Adds new levels.
    • Updates existing levels that you included in the import.
    • Leaves levels that you didn't include in the import as-is.
    Reload entire structure
    Use this option with caution:
    • Adds new levels.
    • Deletes and replaces the entire level hierarchy.
    • Deletes all data.
    You can't use this option if you have any locked or archived versions.
When you also change the
Rolls up to
 value in the import, changes you made to some settings are null. They, instead, match the parent.
