Refer to Spread Lookups from a Calculated Account
- Create a source account on the same modeled sheet. The source account can be a calculated account or the Timespan. See Create Calculated Accounts for Modeled Sheets or Add Timespan and Initial Balance Columns to Modeled Sheets.
- Security:Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulaspermission.
For spread lookups in modeled sheets to work, you must create a calculated account on the modeled sheet. The calculated account holds the distributed values from the source account.
Example: The spread lookup distributes the value of an asset over time to track depreciation. Purchase Price is the source account, where end users enter the purchase price of each asset. Asset Type is a custom dimension column. End users select a dimension value that triggers the spread lookup. Each asset type has an expression for the depreciation. Asset Depreciation is the calculated account that holds the depreciation spread.
- From the Sheet Summary, click Modeled Accounts.
- Either click Create new calculated account from the toolbar, or highlight the existing calculated account from the list of accounts.
- As you complete the fields, consider:
Option Bezeichnung TypeSelectSpread.Source AccountSelect the account with the value that you want to spread.Spread UsingSelect the name of the spread lookup that you added to the custom dimension or text selector. The spread lookup is the calculation, so you don't have to create a formula.
The account calculates the distribution of the source account value over time and holds those distributed values in the appropriate time. Calculations on modeled sheets happen in the background. To see these values in the account, you either:
- Add the account as a display column to the modeled sheet. See Add Display Columns to Modeled Sheets.
- Right-click the row from the sheet view and selectRow Details.
You can also create charts and reports using the account.
