Create Integration Tasks

Create Integration Tasks

  • Enable and set up Adaptive Planning Integration.
  • Security:
    Data Designer
     permission.
You can create tasks or predefined sets of actions to:
  • Extract information from data sources and load it into Adaptive Planning.
  • Build import processes and filters using loaders and other tasks.
  • Combine various operations into a single contiguous operation.
  • Share the tasks with others who can use them.
You can schedule tasks to run automatically, or users can run them on-demand as needed.
  1. Select
    Integration
    Design Integrations
     from the main menu.
  2. Expand
    Tasks
     in the
    Component Library
    .
  3. Select
    Create New Task
    .
  4. Select
    Integration Task
     and
  5. Enter a meaningful name describing what the task does.
  6. Select
    Create
    .
  7. (Optional) Select
    Refresh Data Source After Each Loader
     to automatically refresh the staging table after each loader execution in the task.
    We refresh the staging table whether the task is ordered or unordered.
  8. Select a
    Log Level
    :
    • Error
      : Only logs serious errors.
    • Info
      : Logs all basic information, such as when the data source was updated.
    • Verbose
      : Provides detailed information about all phases and actions. This level is primarily for debugging or auditing because it might produce more log information than is practical for typical use.
  9. Select
    Save
    .
  10. Drag an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly schedule item from
    Data Components
     to the
    Schedule Settings
     table.
  11. Complete the
    Schedule
     fields:
    Option Bezeichnung
    Name
    Enter the name for the schedule.
    Run
    Select the frequency from the drop-down. Frequencies other than the default change the other fields accordingly.
    Schedule information
    Depending on the schedule frequency, we display different schedule options:
    • Hourly
      : Lets you select the minute of the hour using a slider bar.
    • Weekly
      : Lets you select the day or days you want to run the task and the time.
    • Monthly
      : Lets you select the day of the month and the time of day.
    Time Zone
    Select the time zone of the time to run the task.
    Local Time
    Display-only for reference.
    Active
    Uses this schedule information to run the task. If this check box is cleared, the schedule saves in the
    Data Components
     , but the task doesn't schedule. Add multiple schedules to a task for multiple scheduling scenarios. Only 1 schedule can be active at a time.

  13. Drag loaders and tasks from
    Data Components
     to the
    Tasks and Loaders
     table:
    • Add loaders to extract data, perform data manipulation, and load the information into Adaptive Planning.
    • Add other tasks to create smaller subtasks as building blocks that combine into larger tasks. When you use subtasks in larger tasks, you can run the same operations in a different order depending on the time of day or month.
    When Integration runs a task, it takes a collection of loaders and tasks and builds a single list of loaders. After Integration builds the list, it refreshes all needed data sources. The loaders then execute in these groups, in this order:
    • Planning metadata loaders. Example: Planning Dimension Loaders.
    • Planning Data Loaders.
    • Scripted Loaders.
    • Custom Cloud Loaders.
    Within the groups, tasks execute in the order that they were added to the task.
