Set Password Requirements

Set Password Requirements

Security:
Admin Access
New password requirements apply to existing users only the next time they need to change their passwords. To force users to change their passwords, you can temporarily adjust these fields:
  • Password Valid for
  • Expiration warning
Example: If you specify 5 days, users get that much time to change their passwords. Workday prompts them to do so when they sign in. After the specified time is complete, you can then extend the settings.
Always research and use current password management practices.
  1. Select
    Administration
    from the main menu.
  2. Select
    General Setup
     from the System menu. 
  3. Complete the fields in the
    Password management
     section.
    As you complete this task, consider:
    Option Bezeichnung
    Minimum character length
    Enter 8 or more.
    Numeric characters
    Enter 1 or more to require that passwords use at least 1 number.
    Mixed case required
    Select for the password to use both capital and lowercase letters.
    Password valid for
    Enter at least 90 days or 3 months.
    Allowed failed attempts
    Enter a number between 4 and 10. Then enter a maximum of 1440 minutes (24 hours) in the field to the right. The system locks an account if users try to sign in 10 times within a 24-hour period. After setting the option, you see the column on the Users interface in Administration.
    Prevent using last
    Select at most 10.
    Users must change their password on first login
    Select to force users to change their password.
  4. Click
    Save
