Example: Find Account Usage from Model Overview

This example illustrates how to find a sheet that uses an account by searching the Model Overview.
You're new to Adaptive Planning and need to manage an account called
Service Revenue
. You want to find:
  • Where to locate the account in sheets.
  • Where to locate the account in the
    Accounts
    admin so you can change its settings.
  • How this account connects to other accounts by formula or link.
Security:
  • Model includes: sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
    permission.
  1. Select
    Modeling
    Model Overview
    from the main menu.
  2. From the toolbar prompts, select a version and the highest level you can access.
  3. In the search field, enter
    Service Revenue
    .
  4. From the search results, select
    Service Revenue
    to filter the model overview.
    The overview displays the
    Functional P&L
    sheet. You can now go to Sheets >
    Functional P&L
    and review the data for the account. Only these graphics related to the
    Service Revenue
    account display:
    Find Sheets
  5. To view the account path, hover the
    Location
    column for
    Service Revenue
    in the search results.
    The path indicates that
    Service Revenue
    is a custom account. Take note of the path:
    Custom
    Functional P&L Accounts
    Revenue
  6. Double-click the
    Custom
    accounts cluster graphic.
  7. Select the
    Custom Administration
    link.
    The Custom Accounts Admin opens in a new tab.
  8. Following the path, expand the account list
    Functional P&L Accounts
    Revenue
    until you find
    Services Revenue
    .
  9. Select
    Service Revenue
    to view or edit the account settings.
  10. Return to the
    Model Overview
    browser tab.
  11. Double-click the solid arrows.
    Solid arrows between the account clusters indicate connections through links or formulas. A table displays all references between the clusters.
  12. Find
    Service Revenue
    in the table.
    The table indicates that
    Service Revenue
    uses a formula that refers to a general ledger account called
    4200-Services Revenue
    . This reference means that the data entered in the general ledger calculates the data in the custom account.
    The formula could be an account default formula or a shared formula.
  13. Click
    Service Revenue
    to open the
    Account
    admin and check the
    Default Formula
    field.
    If the account doesn't have a default formula, select
    Formulas
    from the main menu, and select
    Service Revenue
    from the drop-down prompt to find the shared formula.
